2005 Big Joe Barrel Blend #2, California Red

Big Joe Red is HUGE. An oak bomb of the spiciest sort. Look for cumin, dill, cinnamon, white pepper, and pine. The fruit transition may rock the boat with an unusual sun-dried tomato, apricots, bing cherries, and cassis. Pair with bruschetta, cioppino, sage and rosemary polenta, peppercorn and sea-salt rub lamb chops, pumpkin ravioli, and finish with caramelized walnuts with mascarpone. Cellar to 2020. Limited production 312 cases. 14.8% Alc. by Vol.

2006 FIVE ESTATES Pride of Cucamonga

By using five vineyards we are able to take everything the Cucamonga Valley's unique growing season has to offer. Some varieties are harvested early to be fresh and light while others are from treasured old vines needing more sunshine to develop their famous rich fruit and heavy tannins. Using beautiful California grapes and a European synergistic approach to winemaking, the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. For wines, this is especially true; each variety selected for this exceptional blend compliments the others. The result is a complete sensory profile; something with everything. Good now and even better later. 13.9% Alc. by Vol. Only 378 cases produced.

2006 Pinot Noir, Monterey

Pinot Noir is the most fragile of red wines, a delicate reflection of the finest handling. Monterey's coastal climate has recently become famous for developing wines such as this. The salmon color is clean and clear, indicative of fresh strawberries on the nose. Oregano quickly followed by chai tea, currants, and floral notes on the bouquet. The palate is vivid with lemongrass, green olives, and lightly ripened mango. Lively tannins and medium body. Best accompanied by salad of baby greens, soft cheeses on toast, or a savory poultry or port entree.

More than just a food wine, this 2006 Monterey Pinot Noir is also a great conversation piece. Alc. 14.6% by Vol. Limited production 310 cases. Enjoy now.

Syrah Hofer/Hippard Ranch, Pride of Cucamonga

Syrah is one of the world's most noble black grape varieties, if nobility is bestowed by an ability to produce serious red wines capable of aging majestically.

Widely planted in France's Rhone Valley, Syrah has become quite popular among California vintners and consumers over the past decade. Known as Shiraz in Australia, Syrah produces richly flavored, deeply colored wines. Cucamonga's sun sloped alluvil foothills of sandy, gravel loam, warm days and cool nights serve as excellent terroir for the rich Syrah grape. Aromas of rich berry fruit, pepper and hints of spice. Medium body with sharp tannins and lingering finish. Pairs well with flavorful brie, gazpacho, or lasagna. Cellar to 2012 and decant recommended. Only 1,956 bottles produced. Alc. 14.6% per Vol.

2005 Notturno Zinfandel Library Reserve, Cucamonga Valley

Killer wine! Old vine zin lends a crimson red color to this wine, along with aromas of tobacco, leather, cracked black pepper, star anise, fig, plum, and black currant on the nose. On the palate, sturdy tannins evoke coffee, spice, cherry, and pomegranate. The pleasant acidity will complement a range of food.

Pair with duck breast, lamb, a juicy ribeye steak, pasta with a spicy arrabita sauce, tangy parmigiano-reggiano or gorgonzola cheese with marinated olives, and for dessert, bittersweet dark chocolate with cigars. Or try with a favorite dish of your own! Cellar to 2015 and decant recommended. 13.9% Alc. by Vol. Production limited to 1,764 bottles.
